About Mediation - How Family Dispute Resolution Works

Mediation is an effective yet often overlooked way to resolve disputes. It is a voluntary and confidential process that can be used to find realistic and practical solutions for many types of disputes. Mediation is often used when people are affected by separation. In fact, the law encourages this approach where possible because one of the many benefits is that you remain the decision makers. It also saves time, money and is less stressful than going to court.

Initially, you will discuss your matter in confidence individually with one of our experts. If you have any concerns about your safety or the safety of your children, we encourage you to let us know. If required, we can refer you to other professionals for further assistance. Following your individual appointments, we may meet further, if doing so is beneficial. The process is not suitable for everyone but it may be very suitable for you and your circumstances.

At Mediation Matters Melbourne, we work collaboratively with other professionals, including lawyers, psychologists and financial advisers to best support you.

Children’s matters – We can assist you to develop a parenting plan to set out arrangements for your children. Whilst children are not directly involved in the process, children’s interests are of utmost priority at all times.

Property matters – Mediation Matters Melbourne works within accepted legal frameworks for property division. We aim to streamline the process of exchanging financial information, evaluating options and negotiating a settlement.

All our practitioners are accredited and registered with the Attorney General’s Department to provide dispute resolution services and issue section 60I certificates, as and when appropriate. Our expert knowledge and experience enable us to provide you with current and relevant information, that is applicable to you and your family matters.

Whatever your circumstances, working with Mediation Matters Melbourne will make a difference.
